Upscale video & images

Upscaling regenerates detail instead of stretching pixels. The difference shows most on AI output and on old footage.

  1. Pick the source Select a clip and choose the Upscale action on the Generate tab (works for images under Image → Upscale too). Your clip's own source is pre-selected.
  2. Choose the factor 2× is the safe default, and 4× pays off on very small sources. The token price for the run is shown before you start.
  3. Run it The upscale renders in the background like any generation. A trimmed timeline clip processes only its visible window, so you never pay for footage you cut.
  4. Swap it in The result lands in your library as a new asset. Apply it from the review picker, or drag it over the original.

Tips

  • Upscale near the end of the edit: cuts and trims do not need the extra pixels, only the export does.
  • AI video models often output 720p, and a 2× pass makes them sit comfortably in a 1080p or 4K export.
  • Screen recordings upscale especially well, because the text becomes legible again.
